Scooba is the lesser-known little brother of Roomba, the iconic robotic vacuum that has autonomously navigated through millions of homes since 2002. Scooba 450 is the latest version of the robot that sweeps, pre-soaks, scrubs, and squeegees hard-surface floors, yet performs these chores more effectively than previous generations.
Made by iRobot, developers of tactical reconnaissance robots for the U.S. military, Scooba 450 automatically moves methodically through a home, sweeping up loose dirt and then emitting a cleaning solution while a rotary brush gently scrubs at over 600 rpm. This advanced cleaning process eliminates up to 99.3% of common household bacteria like E. Coli and Staphylococcus from tile, stone, linoleum and sealed hardwood floors.
Scooba 450 has a more powerful rechargeable battery than previous generations, allowing it to clean up to 300′ sq. on a full tank of clean water and cleaning solution. Its compact design allows Scooba 450 to reach under cabinets, integrated sensors enable it to circumvent furniture, carpet, and stairs, and the included virtual wall projects infrared beams that confine the floor washer to one room.
For nearly a decade, Scooba has proven to be the most advanced floor-scrubbing robot on the market. But iRobot is not a company that rests on its laurels. Instead, they drive innovation in and promise to lead their field for many years to come.
